On July 14, 2017, Governor Rauner declared the counties of Cook, Kane, Lake, and McHenry to be state disaster areas.
To help provide safeguards and to ensure that Illinois consumers affected by this disaster do not suffer unnecessary hardship, Safeway and other insurance companies will not be issuing cancellation or non-renewal notices to any existing affected policyholders in Cook, Kane, Lake and McHenry counties for the period of time beginning July 12, 2017 until September 30, 2017.
During this period, any cancellation or non-renewal notice issued on any in-force policy issued to an affected policyholder or respecting affected property shall be withdrawn and the insurance policy will be reinstated with no lapse in coverage.
